Hey Everyone!

Well, we've officially begun our adventure! We're in D.C. now, at a hotel outside of Dulles with my dad and Jonathan for the night. We have to get to the airport by 7am tomorrow for our take-off at 10:05, and then it's 24 hours of plane rides until we arrive at Kilimanjaro! I have absolutely no idea what awaits us on the other side, so I don't know how to feel right now, but we're just anxious to get going!

As soon as we get the chance, we will be sure to update you all, and we'll try to keep the pictures up too so that you can get little glimpses at what we're experiencing! Until then, know that we love you all and hope that your thoughts and prayers will be with us!

Hakuna Matata!

I admire you and Michael so much for what you are doing. I had the opportunity to check out the website of the orphanage. The children are adorable and so thirsty for knowledge. I know you will change their lives for the better. I also know that they will change you!

Thinking of you two & know that you will be blessed beyond words. Sitting in the same situation this time last year its hard to imagine what truly is waiting for you "on the other side,"---I assure you it will be far more than you can even imagine.

Take in every moment...

They are there! Kasey and Michael called around 12:30 to let us know they were safe in Arusha (and so is their luggage!) A little tired, but excited and happy to be there. They are going to be picked up Sunday morning and taken to the orphanage. They are not sure when they will get to the internet cafe, but as soon as they do they will update us all!

Michael and Kasey,
3 weeks ago our Senior Pastor returned from a 8 day trip to Durban, South Africa. I believe that God was speaking to Darin, Grandpa A.and myself with his sermon, video and words. We got educated about where you are and the need for you to be there. So maybe others can better understand the region and whats happening in South Africa, I want to share some of his statics on whats going on.

The region suffers from 80% unemployment, rampant povery, hunger and crime.

It is the epicenter of the worlds AIDS pandemic.

Everyday 8,500 people with die of AIDS

3 million/per year

2000 babies infected everyday through breastfeeding.

By 2010 there will be 25 million AIDS orphans

80-90% orphans in one orphanage HIV+

And it is estimated (who knows how) that 40 million people have died so far from AIDS.

There is no doubt that this is going to be a totally life changing experience for you both. The social injustice there is like no other place in the world. But it is people like you to show that we can make a difference. These people did not ask for this or deserve this. My prayers will go out to both of you, remember to look for the amazing good in the small acts of humanity. I cannot wait to hear how God is working through you both. I/we love you both so so much. T

Since it's Thursday afternoon there, I guess you two are getting a little rest today--or maybe exploring the city. I'm wondering what you're eating since you both are a little particular in the food department. Hope all is well and that you're settled in now. Keep up the good work. Remember the "footprints." God bless and we love you.
